Round 2 Netball Results
It was a full day of netball at Boolarra for Round 2, with Mirboo North teams stepping onto the court ready to give it their all.
The day began with our youngest Tigers in the 13 & Unders showing heart and hustle in a tough contest. They fought hard, but Boolarra managed to take the win 24–16. Georgie Schaeche was a standout with strong defensive pressure, earning Best on Court, while Abbie Walker took home the Coaches Award for her effort and positive energy.
The 15 & Unders continued the battle, facing a polished Boolarra side. Despite some great passages of play and a solid four-quarter effort, they fell short with a 41–23 scoreline. Amy Conlan held strong in defence and was named Best on Court, and Emmeline Berquez impressed with her work rate and received the Coaches Award.
A nail-biter unfolded in the 17 & Unders game, with both teams going goal-for-goal. It was a tense finish, and although our girls pushed right to the end, Boolarra just edged them out 38–35. Holly Chila led by example on court and was named Best, with Shaela Johnson receiving the Coaches Award for her consistent presence throughout the game.
The D Grade side brought some fire to the court, controlling the game early and holding their lead to come away with a solid 36–19 victory. Carolyn Movchan dominated in both attack and defence and was awarded Best on Court, while Beth Liley’s strong goaling earned her the Coaches nod.
C Grade faced a determined Boolarra outfit and, despite their best efforts, couldn’t match the pace, going down 46–27. Amy Symmons was a standout through the midcourt and took Best on Court honours, while Sophie McGrath’s relentless work earned her the Coaches Award.
Momentum picked up in B Grade, with the Tigers hitting their stride. They played with flair and intensity, comfortably securing a 67–31 win. Mia O’Brien controlled the court with sharp passes, earning Best on Court, while Bella Cook’s consistency and impact saw her take home the Coaches Award.
And then came the A Grade showdown—an absolute thriller. Boolarra came out strong, applying pressure from the first whistle, but Mirboo North matched them every step of the way. As the game wore on, the Tigers’ superior fitness began to shine through. With fast ball movement and strong connections, they pulled away in the final quarter to claim a hard-earned 69–49 win. Jessie Holland was dynamic in goals all game and rightly named Best on Court, while Dani Blair was recognised with the Coaches Award for her composed and commanding performance.
A big day of netball with plenty to be proud of—roll on Round 3 after the Easter Break.
